WHEN GOVERNMENT IS NOT WORKING FOR THE PEOPLE, THE PEOPLE VOTE THEM OUT

As days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months and months turned into years - This legislature had failed to deliver a budget; They continued to spend their time on frivolous laws that infringe upon your rights as an American, and have done nothing to resolve the real problems we face. We need fresh ideas and a new Senator for District 9.

For the last few years our legislative representatives have failed us and the State of Arizona. It is time for a new Senator in District 9, Sheri Van Horsen.

Rather than meeting his Constitutional and elected responsibility to deliver a balanced budget, evaluate what we really need and what we can comfortably live without, our current representative spent his time doing this:

He has voted 100% of the time against district schools, which can result in the loss of more programs such as sports, music, the arts, advanced classes, etc. Classes and activities which shape our children and help them stay in school and engaged in the learning process, while tripling credits for private and religious schools. As our children returned to school, they face larger class sizes and diminshed resources to help them suceed.

HB 2250: Rep Rick Murphy primary sponsor of a package of future tax cuts he calls Arizona’s Job Recovery Act. The bill would cut corporate income taxes, shift property taxes from businesses onto homeowners, at a time when they are asking Arizonans to pay more. It does nothing to bring new jobs into the state. Update: the bill failed to get the votes necessary to pass.

SCR 1009:  Rep. Rick Murphy supports taking another shot at crippling Clean Elections, the voter-approved program that provides public funds to candidates for state office.  Update - due to public outcry this bill failed to get the votes to put it on the ballot

HB2701 - Murphy is a primary sponsor on a bill that attempts to subvert the Corporation Commissions promise to bring more solar and renewable energy sources to AZ. Suntech, the first large solar business that had plans to move into the West Valley and create jobs, was re-thinking their options if this bill passed to locate in a different state. (Update - due to the negative impact this bill would have, it also failed to pass.)

In-addition, Murphy voted to sell the citizen owned State Capitol for a one time payment, and then immediately sign a lease back agreement for the next 20 years that will result in Arizona Taxpayers not only paying back the original amount, but additionally hundreds of millions in interest. Middle class families will still have to pay for repairs and upkeep for buildings we no longer own.

Too many Arizonans are out of work, we ranked one of the highest states with ID theft, one of the lowest in Education, have a high unemployment rate and a porous border with not enough attention to  drugs and human smuggling, and a lack of commitment by our current representatives to give law enforcement resources they need.
