HB 2250: Rep Rick Murphy primary sponsor of a package of future tax cuts he calls Arizona’s Job Recovery Act. The bill would cut corporate income taxes, shift property taxes from businesses onto homeowners, at a time when they asking Arizonans to pay more. It does nothing to bring new jobs into the state. Update: the bill failed to get the votes necessary to pass.
SCR 1009: Rep. Rick Murphy supports taking another shot at crippling Clean Elections, the voter-approved program that provides public funds to candidates for state office. Update - due to public outcry this bill failed to get the votes to put it on the ballot
HB2701 - Murphy is a primary sponsor on a bill that attempts to subvert the Corporation Commissions promise to bring more solar and renewable energy sources to AZ. Suntech, the first large solar business that had plans to move into the West Valley and create jobs, was re-thinking their options if this bill passed to locate in a different state. (Update - due to the negative impact this bill would have, it also failed to pass.)
In-addition, Murphy voted to sell the citizen owned State Capitol for a one time payment, and then immediately sign a lease back agreement for the next 20 years that will result in Arizona Taxpayers not only paying back the original amount, but additionally hundreds of millions in interest. Middle class families will still have to pay for repairs and upkeep for buildings we no longer own.
